Ledger Crypto Wallets: Nano S Plus vs Nano X vs Flex vs Stax
If you hold Bitcoin, Ethereum or other crypto, a hardware wallet is one of the simplest ways to keep it safe. Instead of leaving your coins on an exchange or in a phone app, a hardware wallet keeps your private keys offline on a small device that you control. Ledger is one of the best-known names, and LNT stocks four Ledger models: the Nano S Plus, Nano X, Flex and Stax. This guide explains how they differ and how to use one safely.
What is a hardware wallet?
A crypto wallet doesn’t hold coins; it holds the private keys that prove the coins are yours. Whoever has the keys controls the funds. A hardware wallet stores those keys on a dedicated device, away from your internet-connected computer or phone. Each transaction has to be checked and approved on the device itself, so malware on your computer can’t sign one without you.
Ledger devices use a certified Secure Element chip and work with the Ledger Live app, where you see your balances, send and receive crypto and install apps for different coins.

Ledger Nano S Plus: the easy first wallet
The Nano S Plus is the simplest way to start. It supports more than 5,500 digital assets with up to 100 apps installed at once, keeps your crypto and NFT private keys offline on a certified secure chip, and has a large screen for checking transactions before you approve them. NFTs get clear signing in Ledger Live.
It comes in black, sapphire blue, emerald green and amethyst purple.
Ledger Nano X: for managing crypto on your phone
The Nano X adds Bluetooth, so you can manage your crypto from the Ledger Live app on your phone as well as over USB. Like the Nano S Plus, it holds up to 100 apps covering Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP and more than 5,500 tokens, and keeps coins and NFTs offline. Choose it if you check your portfolio or make transactions on the go.
Available in sapphire blue, emerald green and amethyst purple.
Ledger Flex: a secure touchscreen
The Flex brings a secure 2.84″ E Ink touchscreen to the Ledger range, powered by the Secure Element chip and Ledger OS. You swipe and tap to manage and sign transactions, which makes reading the details easier than on a small button-operated screen. It connects to iOS, Android and desktop. Choose from black or orange.
Ledger Stax: the premium choice
The Stax is Ledger’s palm-sized wallet with a curved E Ink touchscreen, so you can read and sign transactions clearly. It also has the Secure Element chip and Ledger OS, wireless charging, and an always-on, customizable lock screen that can show your own photo or NFT.

How to keep your crypto safe with a Ledger
- Protect your recovery phrase. When you set up your Ledger, it gives you a recovery phrase. Write it down on paper, keep it somewhere safe and private, and never store it in a photo, a note app or the cloud.
- Never share the recovery phrase with anyone. Ledger will never ask for it. Anyone asking for your phrase by email, message, phone or on a website is trying to steal your funds.
- Set up the device yourself. Never use a device that comes with a recovery phrase already written down or a PIN already set.
- Download Ledger Live from the official Ledger website only, and watch out for fake apps and look-alike websites.
- Check every transaction on the device screen, especially the receiving address and amount, before you approve it.
- Buy from a trusted seller. LNT sells original Ledger products.

Protect your device
A Ledger is small enough to carry every day, so a case keeps it scratch-free:
- Nano S Plus: pebble-shaped case or pocketable pod.
- Nano X: case or pod.
- Flex: slim silicone cases in transparent, bitcoin orange and dark green.
- Stax: magnetic, stackable Magnet Shells in orange bitcoin, party aubergine and business charcoal, with a microfiber edge that protects the display.
Cases and pods are sold without the Ledger device.
